KARMIC FRAME ONE: SOME CLASSICALLY EXPRESSED ROOT PATTERNS, USEFUL IN MYSTICAL & CONCEPTUAL THINKING
7. The Meaning of Meaning and Do We Watch What Our Mind Does?

REMNANTS OF THE PREHISTORIC IDENTIFICATION IN SAMENESS OF THE FEMALE VAGINA AND THE UNIVERSE AND THE FEMALE:

Spirituality comes into the human mind when the human mind looks at itself and says “Why?”. The “why?” becomes a nagging and unpleasant question and then is taboo – don’t think about it. It is scary. One Million Two Thousand Years later it leads to Jean-Paul Sartre’s play No Exit and to his psychological study Being and Nothingness.

But the nagging persists, and the human mind begins to look into and around his/her own objects of creation and/or discovery and the additional life-power which these created objects and discoveries allow into daily being.

These created objects and discoveries are (in uncertain order of prehistoric appearance:

• Discovery and Creation of Direct Percussion Tool Making (The Pebble Tool then the Hand Axe)

• Discovery of Language (Sounds and Signs/Marks)

• Discovery and Creation of Fire

• Discovery and Use of Fire in an enclosed space (Home Heating in Closed Relationship to The “Sweat Lodge”)

• Looking into the Darkness When Enclosed in an object infinitely smaller than the sky (Pools of Dark Water, Burial Pits, and Hand-Made Hats)

It is a harsh reality that we will never get consensus on what were the earliest forms of human spirituality, but we can guess intelligently.

One such intelligent guess is that spirituality was engendered by reflection upon tool making, clothing making, and the use of fire within an enclosed space – all at their earliest periods of discovery and use by early humanity, sometime circa 1,000,000 BC.

6th BREATHING: CAVE, DARKNESS< FIRE< SACRED VAGINAS: LILITH AND HER FIRST BORN DRAGON BECOME ADAM GIVING BIRTH TO EVE:

...But the serpent said to the woman: "You will not die, for God knows that when you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God knowing good and evil." So when the woman saw that the tree was goodfor food and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband who, was with her, and he ate...

in pain you shall bring forth children"...

Human infants have brains and bodies twice as big as you'd expect, given the length of gestation. This must be extremely costly energetically. A high energy feeding strategy was essential for its development.
Robert Martin, University College, UK

It is suggested that in the development of humanity, the human species developed through a "high-energy" feeding pattern and with it, the human infant and child depended more and more upon his/her mother which included a growing complex training pattern, running the gamut from the type of training we see in other primates and in human daily life, to very subtle forms of training which included group and individual rest patterns, rhythms of nutrient providing, and perhaps the use of sound and psychic energy. It is known that the human child requires more care than any other earth mammal. From the study of primate / hominid skulls, we can deduce that late in the development of our species, there was a sudden explosion in the development of brain size.

During the growth process from gestation to actual birth, all primates, except humans double the volume of their brains. From gestation to actual birth, the human quadruples the size of his/her brain. After actual birth, no primate grows any further nerve cells. The only further growth is that of nerve-supporting tissues which support the nerves and that of making new nerve connections. A human infant is born with a brain in a body which has not "grown" or developed all of the connecting nerve tissues, etc, whereas horses and other animals are born with much supporting brain tissues and reasonably advanced nerve connections, so that a new born horse can stand and walk within a few hours of its own birth.

It is theorized that because of the greatly expanded brain size, that incomplete closure of the infant's skull at birth was one way for the child to pass out through the female pelvis. In turn, this may have "demanded" that the humanoid giving birth be thinner boned. The paleobiologists, Niles Eldredge, of the American Museum of Natural History and Stephen Jay Gould of Harvard University have put forth the idea that the growth and development of one body part quite often is in linkage with the change and development of other body parts. Going back to the pioneering work of Sir Richard D'Arcy Thompson, genetic change and development is holistic, although some aspects of this holistic change may be more noticeable than other aspects of this same change.

Richard Leakey has inferred that male and female Homo erectus had similiar sacral diameters.

It appears that Homo habilis was the first form of primate brain, outside of australopithecan groups (a brain size of 200-250 cubic centimeters at birth) to show a substantial increase in brain volume (the newborn brainsize estimated at 350 cubic centimeters).

Obviously, as the human brain developed greater standard volume (approximately 350 cubic centimeters), the size of the human female pelvis began to change as well. But the pelvic girdle could only become to big or the female human would be incapable of walking and continued movement would create diseases of the spine, thus endangering the female human. Female human birth had become painful and risky. Children and/or mothers could die or be physically and/or mentally damaged. Until the twentieth century AD developed appropriate surgical procedures, childbirth was the leading cause of death for women between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age..

One-fourth of all blood pumped from the human heart goes to the human brain. Proportionately, the human directs a greater percentage of his/her blood to the brain than any other creature in the animal kingdom.

Each cell in the human body has the potential of containing new material and the same time each cell in the human body contains elements that may be 20,000,000,000 years old. Abstract codes are written on DNA by protein. Mitochondria, flagella, various cell organelles live in a form of seawater stored in our bodies.

...and there was no one to till the ground; but a stream would rise from the earth, and water the whole face of the ground - Then the Lord formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being...
Genesis 2:5-7; The Holy Bible; New Revised
Standard Edition

Did life as we know it begin with volcanically heated water and dust?

In 1871, Charles Darwin wrote:
It is often said that all the conditions for the first production of a living organism are now present, which could ever be present. But if (and oh, what a big if) we could conceive in some warm little pond, will all sorts of amonia and phosphoric salts, light, heat, electricity, etc, present that a protein compound was chemically formed ready to undergo still more complex changes, at the present day such matter would be instantly devoured, or absorbed, which would not have been the case before living creatures were formed...

Mitochondria provide oxidative energy burning nutrients from our nutrient intake. Some biologists, such as Lynn Margules of Yale University, have observed that the mitochondria look, act, and behave like bacteria which raises the question as to whether bacterial cells may have entered the humanoid body at a very early time period and have remained. Mitochondria have their own stores of DNA which are different from gentic blueprints contained in our cell nuclei. They replicate independently of our cells. They live separate existences, yet aid the human organism in symbiosis. yet, without oxygen, mitochodria would die within minutes.

Mitochondria can be used as a library for both human prehistory and human history. It is now standard procedure to copy and read mitochondrial genes and the human genome.

In 1987, biochemist Alan Wilson of UCLA Berkeley , and geneticists Rebecca Cann of the University of Hawaii and Mark Stoneking of Pennsylvaia State College, found strong evidence that all persons of all races share exceedingly similiar mitochondrial genes. This indicates that in terms of the long earth time periods, that there has not been sufficient time for mutation and differentiation to occur.

Although, mitochondria are in both sperm and egg, the mitochondria on connected to a male sperm cell are at the base of the sperm's tail, therefore, the female mitochondria move to the first diploid cell which begins the gestation process of the child. Here, there are no complex patternings, no reconstituting, fractured, or broken paths such as created by nuclear genes governing such things as differing blood types; where there may be great differences in nuclear genes governing the blood types and these blood types may show wide variation., the only difference between the mitochondrial DNA of a child, this child's mother, and this childs direct grandmother of a thousand years ago, is random mutation, which can be either a mutation through accident; or a cosmic ray destroys part of a piece of DNA.

Comparison of mitochondrial DNA of every human racial group on the planet earth, has led researchers to a solitary woman who lived near the Nile River, during the period 250,000 BC. She possessed a higher forehead and a more thinly boned cranium. Eve probably had some of the features of African, Asian, and Caucasian, which over time began to branch off into what we now call African, Asian, and Caucasian. Prior to her birth, Eve had approximately 3,800,000 years of evolution from the emergence of australpithecus, which in turn followed 400,000 million years of pre-australopithecine vertabrae evolution. In terms of the planet earth's evolution, Eve is still startlingly new.

Stephan Jay Gould points out that in a purely random system of 15,000 unrelated females, there is a 50% probability that after 18,000 generations have passsed, all members of the now existing population would be descendants of only one same female from the original group.

Cain and Abel:

Now the man knew [ bred ] with his wife Eve, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying "I have produced a man with the help of the Lord. Next she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep and Cain a tiller of the ground.

In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground, and Abel for his part brought of the firstlings of his flock, their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering, he had no regard. So Cain wasvery angry and his countenance fell. The Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is lurking at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it."

Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let us go out into the field." And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother, Abel, and killed him.

Then the Lord said to Cain, "Where is your brother Abel?" He said, "I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?" And the Lord said, "What have you done? Listen: your brother's blood is crying out to me from the ground. And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. When you till the ground, it will no longer yield to you its strength; you will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.

Cain said to the Lord, "My punishment is greater than I can bear! Today you have driven me away from the soil, and I shall be hidden from your face; I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth and anyone who meets me may kill me." Then the Lord said to him, "Not so! Whoever kills Cain will suffer a seven-fold vengeance." And the Lord put a mark on Cain [the mark is on Cain's head], so that no one who came upon him would kill him.

Then Cain went away from the presence of the Lord, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

Cain knew [bred with] his wife and she conceived and bore Enoch; and he [Cain] built a city, and named it Enoch after his son Enoch.

Various archeological and anthropological investigations have indicated that mankind started farming during the Neolithic period, sometime circa 7,000 BC and when they did so, they did it with a fairly sophisticated knowledge of time, arithmetic, geometric measurement, and tool technology.

The Nephilim: Predecessor -Contempories of Eve Which Died Out:

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days - and also afterward - when the sons of God went into the daughters of humans who bore children to them. These were the heros that were of old, warriors of renown.
Genesis:6:4; The Holy Bible; New Revised
Standard Edition
Homo erectus:
Homo erectus flint-workers, whose remains dating from 500,000 Bc to 200,000 BC, have been found at Karnak, Beijing, and Java, begins moving towards extinction during the period following the approximate dates of Mitachondrial Eve. Homo erectus had been in existence for approximately 250,000 years. Now all the Homo erectus/thick boned tribal groups had been completely displaced by the thinner-boned / higher forhead group. The growing tribe or group from Mitochondrial Eve seems to have travelled greater distances, travelling as far way from the Nile River area as Australia, Iceland, and the Himalyayas. They may have been (comparitively speaking the tribe of futuristic visionaries of the day, intent on finding out what they did not know and developing a form of curiosity and questioning that formed a quantum leap from that of homo erectus. Wherever the tribe of Mitichonrial Eve appeared, the other tribes' mitochondria disappeared until this "foreign" mitochondria no longer existed in any living group.

Neanderthal:
In 1972, Alexander Marchack demonstrated proofs that humanity as early as the flourishing of the Neanderthals was capable of conceptualizing time and had the capability of making calendrical records and that the beginnings of this sort of knowledge extended back to some period between approximately 100,000 BC to 40,000 BC (give or take a few thousand years). Marchack demonstrated that the scratches and dots on many "ritual" or "shamanic" inpliments were not designs to ward off exteriorized fears from the subconscious, but recordings of lunar cycles.

The oldest artifact found in this category dated to approximately 50,000 BC; the same period during which the Neanderthals ritually buried their dead with flowers and always oriented in an east-west orientation. The most important aspect of these discoveries seems to want to shout at us that humanity's cultural, social, and intellectual progress is not gated by technological advancement, but by a period when the human race first discovered the concept of time itself.

From this moment onwards, all mankind has been in some form of reaction to time. At some point in mankind's prehistory, mankind "went on the clock" and technology can be seen as a combination of a direct instinct for survival coupled with the psychological reaction to his discovery of time. In other words, the foundation of humaity's pan-civilization is astronomical time-factored notation done by European cave-dwellers.

Mankind, being teritorial, made its relationship to time territorial also.Time as well as geography and mating joined into the territorial imperative or drive in mankind's psychological make-up. Our sense of time contains interblended attitudes of direct and indirect aggression.

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil:

The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to till it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, "You may freely eat of every tree in the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, fo in the day that you
eat of it you shall die..
Genesis 2:15-18:The Holy Bible; New Revised
Standard Edition

In his The Cronos Complex, Michael Bradley puts forward an elaboration of the idea that time had become part of human primate territorialism. He goes on to state that in trying to inhabit and have dominance in this new territory called time, early humans intuitively knew that they needed new yools in order to do so. For past-present communication, we invented formal religion; for present-future communication, we invented writing. Additionally, we began to have a strong sense of need for non-biologic communication with both past and future and we began tto give special status to those individuals (perhaps the birth of individualism) who demonstrated special aptitudes for non-biologic communications. Very literally, this territory of time was and is the supernatural world for humans. This made possible the realized situation that a human's real enemies were his/her past, future, forbears, and offspring.

Then the Lord God said, "See, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now he might reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever".

-therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man; and at the east of the garden of Eden, he placed the cherubim, and a sword flaming and turning to guard the way to the tree of life.
Genesis 3: 22-24:The Holy Bible; New Revised
Standard Edition

Perhaps at this time, it became a common feature of human behaviour to always try to overcome, surpass, or transcend one's personal past and to direct, control, limited, or transcend one's own future. At this time, humanity fully developed the idea of progress.

The human had become a biological creature trying to inhabit a non-biological environment. Continuing to delineate Michael Bradley's thesis, we look at manifestations of past and future time control to include denying offspring access to progress, the caste system, vertical organization structures and governmental systems, inherited occupations, inherited occupational status, ghettoes, brutal organized warfare as a substitute for random and limited acts of violence.

Bradley then draws a startling conclusion: during the 20th century AD, humanity's past-surpassing activities and techniques have been fused with humanity's future-limiting activities and techniques. Certain atomic capabilities and environmental wasting and destroying capabilities are consciously [I disagree: it is probably subconsciously] craftyed attackson humanity's future in the interests of present identity assertion (Iceman Inheritance; p.18) We can now totally control the human future by totally destroying it through either a full destruction of the planet earth's ecosphere or through nuclear anihilation. From the moment of the first successful nuclear test at Alamagordo, New Mexico in 194?, mankind has daily maintained the knowlede (quite often consciously) a positive dream and a negative nightmare of living continuously at the beginning of either an apocalypse or the apocalypse.

Violence, Ritual Violence, Ritual Marking, and Ritual Familialization:
Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let us go out into the field." And when they were in the field, Cain rose up aginst his brother Abel, and killed him.
Genesis 4: 8

"...I shall be a fugitive and wanderer on the Earth and anyone who meets me may kill me." "Not so! Whoever kills Cain will suffer a sevenfold vengeance." And the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who came upon him would kill him.
Genesis 4:14-15

In 1982, UCLA anthropologist Tim White, found a partial Homo erectus skull which had been scraped by stone blades, sometime in the distant past. He claims it represents the "first known human scalping" or intentional defleshing. Is this the earliest documented murder?

Adam knew [bred with] his wife again, and she bore a son and named him Seth, for she said, "God has appointed for me another child instead of Abel, because Cain killed him." To Seth also a son was born, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to evoke the name of the Lord.

Flint Vaginas:
In Denmark, some current researchers who wish to remain anonymous, have found a small number of Paleolithic direct percussion flint sculptures of an obvious vaginal form. These flint vaginal forms, may be the oldest female sexual sculpture yet known, perhaps dating as early as 100,000 BC. It would indicate the tribally acknowledged conscious attitude of the birth process (as realized by women, with men's role minimalized), not only as a physical and social reality, but as a spiritual reality as well. Why would a tribe, early in the chain of humankind bury sculpted flint vaginas in the graves of their own deceased? It seems likely, that here, also, we have early confirmation of some concept of reincarnation or spiritual rebirth, with the physical female birth process made spiritual and metaphysical. The extent of this and the extent of sophistication, we do not know, but there obviously exists a base line of spirituality, metaphysics, and sophistication, simply on the basis that this concept-sculpting-and-burial process of the human-made flint vaginas, is, by its very nature, entirely abstract. In chapter 3.07, we will discuss just how sophisticated these ideas had become by 300 AD.

Sexuality and Gender in the Prehistoric Word:
All primates tend to seek out sexual encounter and climax, soon after any experiences of frustration or aggression from an exterior source or self-created aggression. Our ancestors and we, ouselves, are primates.

Modern mankind has a number of sexual differences from the other mammals. Women's breasts automatically thrust outwards all the time, not just during periods of nursing as do the breasts of other female mammals. Among primates, our sexual organs are proportionately larger. Human sexuality, generally, is more pleasurable than that of many other species, if not all of them.

Sexual Dimorphism in the Caucasoid Racial Group:
It is quite noticeable that Caucasoid women have much larger hips than Caucasoid men, while these males, generally are much hairier than females. Caucasoid women have proportionately larger breasts than women from other racial groups. Modern European women have internal pelvic dimensions much larger than modern woden from other races. Caucasoid difference in height is generally greater than in other racial groups.

Sexual Characteristics in Other Groups:
Bushman and Hottentot women have enlarged labia minor known as the Hottentot Apron and the men have an always semi-erect penis. Negroes have large sex organs. The Asiatic male has less hair than the male from any other group.

The Willendorf Venus:
The Willendorf Venus, the Venus of Lespugue (carved from a mammoth's tusk),the Venus of Laussel, Dorgogne (bas-relief carving in rock dated 15,000-10,000 BC), and many other Neanderthal period statuettes of women, pose the question, why were all these women very round, very heavy, and with very exagerated hips, while at the same time, the rest of the stauettes carry much naturalistic detail such as a string skirt hanging down over ther buttocks (Lespugue) or what appears to be a knotted or knit woollen cap (Willendorf)?

The Black Venus of Dolni Vestonice, Czechoslovakia:
This is a baked clay small female figurine with very wide hips, large stomach, very pendulous breast, and an almost "science-fiction" like and mysteriously ununderstandable face, forhead, and head. It dates from approximately 24,000 BC. Since this first discovery at this site in 1924, anthropological investigor have discovered more than 100 of these female figurines, originally made between 27,000 and 21,000 BC.

What Are The Venus Figures?
All the Venus figurines are very similiar. They have large pendulous breasts which do not show nipples. The backbone is a swaying line. Fat folds of flesh are represented beneath their shoulder blades. The face is strange and unrealistic. Some form of design can cover the top of the head, including the eye area. Eyes, the mouth, and any obvious facial expression are simply not portrayed. In the past, they have been labelled as a heterosexual male erotic visual device, similiar to the Playboy nude female centerfold. This is the view of the American paleontologist Dale Guthrie. Others are more inclined to see these figurines as some form of ritual device.

The Grimaldi Cave Carvings:
The Grimaldi Cave in Southern Italy has become one of the largest recent finds of Ice Age figurines. These figurines were carved from rare materials, which could only have been acquired through trade or travelling long distances. These figurines were carefully carved, then polished, and finally rubbed with ocre.

Most interesting, is a recently found figurine called Beauty and the Beast. It is a green-yellow figurine of two arched bodies facing away from one another. They are joined at the head. One body is that of a woman portrayed in the "Venus" style. The other body is of an unknown and probably fantastical creature who has the triangular head of a reptile, the pinched waist of a wasp, and horns. More than likely this figurine clearly portrays the idea that the female was in contact with a mystical, other, powerful world, and that this contact was a continuum from the female birth process to communication and some forms of practical use with another world or plane of being. It is interesting to compare the conceptual design structure of the Beauty and the Beast with the Egyptian human-and-animal design structure of the Egyptian Gods and the Tibetan Tantric Buddhist and Bonpo forms of enlightened beings or Buddhas with vertical hierarchies of unusual looking and/or multiple heads/face reaching skyward from the head of the original enlightened being or simply with another enlightened being complete body-form sitting on a lotus resting on a throne resting on single status or combination status of horizontal flat comet, sun, and moon disks resting upon a lotus resting upon the veritically lowest complete body-form of an enlightened being.

The Neanderthal Culture:
What are Neanderthals? They are an earlier branch on the tree of primate and human life. almost every single skeletel characteristic of the Neanderthal is matchable to the skeletel characteristics of mankind today. Their feet and hands were very different from ours in terms of proportions. Their faces were twice as large as ours. Their heads were an inch longer and an inch wider. Their average height was 5 feet 4 inches. Women were noticeably shorter than men. They were a heavy and squat people. Their lower rib cage was very round, perhaps even flared. Their pelvic bones were higher and more flared.
It is helpful to think of Allen's Rule which states the principle that animals that are cold-adapting tend to develop a spherical form while animals which are tropical-adapting tend to develop an elongated form.

Were Neanderthals primitive? Until the 1960s, the general anthropolical opinion of the Neanderthal was that the Neanderthal looked primitive because he/she was very short and stocky (perhaps fat) therefore they were primitive. This is a beautifultautology which is the definition of anything through a needless (and worthless) statement composed of simpler statements in such a way as to make the original statement true whether the simpler statements are true or false. This word derives from the Latin tautologia meaning a definition created by repeating the word or object to be defined as the substance of the definition itself.

Anthropologists Carleton Coon and to a lesser degree Ralph Solecki, have taken the view that Neanderthals' distinctive traits developed from specialized adaption and that certain of their physical characteristics were reinforced by glacial adaption to a very great degree. Neanderthal women were almost disproportionately short. It is likely that the truly strong
sense of sexual dimorphism within human culture may have started with the Neanderthals
because men and women looked, very, very different from one another.

There is some badly crushed skull material of Neanderthal infants from Shanidar Cave in Northern Iraq and from Starosel'e. The Starosel'e skull is larger than the skull of a modern infant Coon states that the skull's vault is thick for that of an 18-month baby, especially the lower part of the forhead, and that this skull is much more rounded and bowing upward than a modern baby's skull. Further, Coon thinks that this skull is not completely Neanderthal but being late Neanderthal-part Caucasoid or very early Caucasoid Homo sapiens or the end result of Neanderthal development pioneering its way into Caucasoid Homo sapiens. We can assume, that infant skulls of earlier more "pure" Neanderthals would be slightly larger than the Starosel'e example.

There had to be pelvic adaption or accomadation for this size of an Neanderthal infants head during birth. Neanderthal women were very stocky and had very wide hips. It is probable that the rim of the pelvis was wider, but without too much widening the dimensions of the bone. This leads to the conclusion that their was a different configuration of the interior of the pelvic bone and by thinner bone. The Shanidar pelvic bones, with emphasis on the pubic bones, were thinner than the equivalent bones in modern women.

There may have been other bone adaptions which we do not understand. To quote Carleton Coon:

Wormian bones are extra cranial bones which are separated by sutures and are in the area of the lambda. Wormian bones are found in Sinanthropus skulls and Neanderthal crania.

Wormian bones are so called because they are found in ancient Andean skulls. They are found principally in Mongoloid crania, in both the Old and New Worlds. The skull of Saccopastore 1 [ a gravel pit, just outside the walls of Rome, Italy] !, a Caucasoid Italian of the Last Interglacial, has sixteen Wormian bones, possibly a world's record; eleven major and five minor. Later on, Wormian bones were also characteristic of Neanderthal skulls. No one knows their function.

The ethnologist and anthropoligist Michael Bradley, proposes that Saccopastore was not really Caucasoid (implying, but not stating Neanderthal) and that the Wormian bones ...gave flexibility to a long, large skull during the birth process. The facial skeleton and the forward part of human skulls are well supplied with joints which would allow some 'play' during the rigours of birth, but the rear part of the skull is composed of just three major bones which meet at lambda (the meeting of the occipital and the three parietals). There would be less 'play' in the rear portion of the skull because there are only three major joints or sutures. The Wormian bones may serve the purpose, in larger skulls, of widening these sutures and rounding out the joint between larges bones during birth. The extra Wormian bones give 'play' to the rear of a large skull, just as the more numerous bones in the face give natural play to the forward portion of a head. (Iceman Inheritance; p.109)

Bradley goes on to make the point that it makes good sense to discard the theory that the Ice-Age Venus figurines are symbolic and "artistic creations" and instead are natural and literal portrayals of Neanderthal women who were active people and active child-bearers during the glacial periods of Wurm II and Wurm III which of course were quite cold and characteristics that would protect them from cold would be developed in a number of different ways ranging from diet to developing needed prominence of certain inate characteristics.

Finally, it is important to realize that today, most anthropologists believe that the "primitive morphology" of the Neanderthal was the result of special adaption to prolonged cold, over a long period of time. The last glacial period, Wurm XX began about 100,000 years ago. This period of prolonged, intense cold did not begin to become moderate climate until approximately 40,000 years ago; then returning to a new savage Wurm cold beginning about 30,000 years ago and which ended with the glacial retreaat of 10,000-8,000 BC. It has been proven that the Neanderthals of 100,000 years ago were more "modern-looking" and more peaceful than the Neanderthals of 40,000 0r 50,000 years ago. During the global warming period of the Gottweig Interstadial, the Neanderthal began to quickly die out. It could not readapt to the warmth. During this period, the Neanderthals were replaced by other people who were literally "returning" to Europe.

7th BREATHING: THE SWEAT LODGE AND HUMAN FIRE WITH WATER:

In the Sauna, one must conduct oneself as one would in church.
Old Finnish Saying

In many cultures all over our planet, there has been the creation and use of sweat-lodges, saunas, or sauvasuanas. We do not know how old the practice of ritual use of heat and sweating is, but it is a very ancient custom. It is quite possible that the earliest sweatlodges were created during the period of the most recent Ice Age. The use of fire would be widespread. The cold climate automatically would create a need and appreciation of staying warm. There was now technology of heating stone to crack it, either with excessive heat, or with cold water being pour on hot stone, in order to create stone fragments for tool making as well as the use of primitive kilms to fire clay "Venus" figurines.

Most of the Native Amerindian cultures had sweatlodges prior to significant contact with Europeans and most of their spiritual journey and story-history refers to a very early time at or near the creation of the world. This mythohistoric attitude could esaily be the oral tradition going back to either the period of earth cataclysms or the period of the last ice age.

In the writings of Homer which may date to approximately 800 BC, there are mentions of sweat baths.

In 425 BC, Herodotus wrote of the sweat-bath customs of the Scythians (part of present-day Russia) which included the building of a sweat lodge. When they have set up three pieces of wood leaning against each other, they extended around them woolen cloths; and having joined them together as closely as possible, they throw red-hot stones into a vessel in the middle of the pieces of wood and the cloths. Herodotus elaborates further by discussing how the Scythiansplaced specific fruits on the fire, then breathing in the scented fumes. hedodotus further states that these Scythian sweat-baths give off such a vapor as no Grecian vapor-bath can exceed. Hot air baths called laconia, were used by the ancient Greeks during this period and all Greek baths contained a small version of a laconia. The Romans copied this custom calling their hot air baths balneum, which was a small constructed chamber using heated water and steam for bathing.

In 25 BC, the Roman Emperor Agrippa builtthe first giant baths. These were called Thermae,

During the period circa 600 AD, The Prophet Muhammad strongly endorsed the idea of steam baths which were called hammams . Hammam is the Arabic word meaning spreader of warmth). Here we have the origin of what is now called the Turkish Bath.

The Mayan mesoamericans built elaborate sweat baths from stone in several of their elaborate temples. One famous example is Yaxchilan (near the present day Guatemala-Mexico border). It was buit prior to 900 AD and it has eight sweat baths, each one has its own stone hearthhh lined with potsherds, stone benches, drains.

In the early 16th century AD, the Dominican Friar Diego Duran wrote that the Aztecs used the vapor baths, called Temazcalli, as an aid to curing every illness contracted within their own nation: These bath houses are heated with fire and are like small low huts. Each one can hold 10 people in a squating position. The entrance is very low and narrow. People enter one by one and on all fours. There was an Aztec god of the Temazcalli and prayers were chanted to this god as people enjoyed their sweat baths.

Sahagun, in his history, Things of New Spain, wrote that within the Temascalli, the Aztecs: restore their bodies and their nerves. Those who are as if faint with illness, are there calmed and strengthened.

Jameson's Narratives of New Netherland [now New York], contains an early 1600s account by the Dutchman David deVries of a Mahican [or Mohegan] sweat bath:

When they wish to cleanse themselves of their foulness, they go in the autumn, when it begins to grow cold, to make, away off, near a running brook, a small oven, large enough for three or four men to lie in it. In making it they first take twigs of trees, and then cover them tight with clay, so that smoke cannot escape. This being done, they take a parcel of stones, which they heat in a fire, and then put in the oven, and when they think it is sufficiently hot, take the stones out again and go lie in it, men and women, boys and girls, and come out perspiring, that every hair has a drop of sweat on it. In this state they plunge into the cold water, saying that it is healthy, but I let its healthfulness pass; they then become entirely clean, and are more attractive than before.

Interesting information about sweat lodges is contained in the yearly reports known as Relations which were sent by Jesuit priests in New France [present day Quebec province and Vermont] to their Jesuit superior in France. These Relations contain various observations about the Abenaki Amerindians. Divination within the sweat lodge is mentioned in the Relation of Jean de Brebuef for 1646:

On another occasion, before setting out for war, a medicine man was consulted. A bark sweat house 3 or 4 feet high and wide was built for him and inside were placed hot stones. The medicien man shut himself inside the sweat house and sang while the warriors danced outside. Finall, his spirit gave him the answer and he yelled out, "Victory! I see the enemies coming toward us from the south. I see them take to flight. I see all of you making prisoners of them." On the basis of this the warriors departed for the south.

The Leni Lenape Amerindians were native to what is now northeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the Lower Hudson Valley of New York. William Penn wrote of a Delaware man named Tenoughan used a Leni Lenape style sweat lodge during the winter of 1683:

I found him ill of a fever, his Head and Limbs much affected with Pain, and at the same time his Wife preparing a Bagnio [sweat bath: word derived from le bain =bath] for him: The Bagnio resembled a large Oven, into which he crept, by a Door on the one side, while she put several hot Stones in a small Door on the side thereof, and then fastened the Doors as closely from the Air as she could. Now while he sweating in his Bagnio, his wife was, with an Ax, cutting her husband a passage into the River in order to be immersing himself, after he should come out of his Bath. In less than half an Hour, he was in so great a Sweat, that when he came out, he was as wet as if he had come out of a River, and the Reak or Steam of his body so thick, that it was hard to discern any bodies Face that stood near him. In this condition, stark naked (his Breech-Clout only excepted) he ran to the river, which was about twenty Paces, and duck'd himslef twice or thrice therein, and so return'd (passing only through his Bagnio to mitigate the immediate stroak of the Cold) to his own house, perhaps twenty paces further, and wrapping himself in his woolen mantle, lay down as his length near a long (but gentle) Fire in the midst of his wigwam or House, turning himself several times, till he was dry, and then he rose, and fell to getting us our Dinner, seeming to be as easie, and well in Health as at any other time.

In his Travels in the Interior, Bossu writes of sweat baths among the Choctaw Amerindians of Louisiana who would enter into: steam cabinets in which are boiled all sorts of medicinal and sweet smelling herbs...the vapors filled with the essence and salts of these herbs enter the patient's body through his pores and his nose and restore his strength. Bossu believed that everybody should do at least 3 "sweats" each year.

The Sweat bath also existed in the early (as well as current times). In his essay, Ancient Irish Hot-Air Bath, published in 1889, Seaton F. Milligan wrote that until recent times the hot-air bath was known over many parts of Ireland as a cure for rheumatism.

In 1892, the Reverend D. B. Mulcahy in his paper An Ancient Irish Hot-Air Bath wrote that he had found a sweat bath in use on the farm of Widom M'Curdy and that he had learned that women used the sweat bath to improve their complexion after making peat or pulling flax.

In The Two Crosses of Todos Santos, Maud Oakes, in her 1973 study of the Guatamalan Mayan Highlands, mentions that, currently, in the village of Todos Santo every family has its own sweat bath which is a hut made from stone and adobe which can accomadate 2 people. Further, every person in this village takes at least one sweat bath per week.

The Lakota Inipi ("New Life Lodge") or Stone Peoples' Lodge:
Representing the womb of the Earth Mother, this lodge is a standard dome. The superstructure is made of green willow branches. It may be about 20 feet in diameter (perhaps smaller) and at the highest central vertical, it might be 5 feet high. For the average superstructure, one uses approximately 14 green willow branches, with the approximate diameter of one's own thumb. They are tied together with strip bark or twine. Blankets, hides, and other materials cover the green willow branches, making the lodge relatively air-tight. There is one entrance with a door flap. This door flap faces east which is seen as the source of life and power which creates the dawning of wisdom within all humans' minds. Inside in the center is a pit, perhaps 4 or 5 feet in diameter and approximately 3 feet deep. Obviously, the floor of the sweat-lodge is circular. Not so obviously, this circular floor, by its very shape is sacred.

All people enter the lodge from the left. Inside the sweat lodge, the ground is covered with medicine sage, and little, bright colored pieces of Hudson's Bay cloth are folded around a pinch of kinnikinnik, chanshasha, or (or as more commonly known) pure tobacco, and using a long string, each tiny bright colored bundle of tobacco is tied in its center to the string , each "tobacco tie" or bundle being placed on or two inches apart in a consecutive fashion along the length of the string. These tobacco ties are prayers to the Highest God. The tobacco ties are tied in a random fashion to the green willow branches supporting the lodge itself.

Outside the lodge, one or more persons keep going a very hot fire in which are a series of stones, many the approximate size of a football. These stone are heated until they are glowing. The fire itself, is called peta owihankeshni or the fire that never dies.

The fire is created by placing four pieces of firewood about 3 feet long and several inches in diameter, parallel upon the ground in a East-West direction. Kindling is laid between these. Next, four more pieces of firewood (again, about 3 feet in length), parallel to one another, are placed upon the first, previous layer, at a right angle to the earlierl layer. More kindling is placed between the parallel firewood of the second layer. Now stones are arranged upon this upper layer of wood. Finally,, other pieces of firewood are leaned against the four sides of the structure. This process of leaning the firewood, begins in the West, and moves in a circle traveling "with the sun". The fire is first lit on the East side which is the side where the Sun (Source of All Light) will always first appear. Once the fire is burning, it takes about an hour for the stones to be almost white hot.

Antlers or a pitchfork is used to remove each stone, always one at a time, from the fire, and carefully, move the stone into the lodge, and without burning anyone, depositing the stone into the lodge's central pit. As each stone is deposited in the central pit, a prayer may be offered and a small amount of medicine sage may be sprinkled onto the top of the red-hot rock. The first stone can represent Wakan Tanka, the Great All-Powerful Divine Mystery Who is at the Center of Everything. The white hot stones represent the coming of life from its primal origin.

Perhaps the lodge will hold 10 to 20 people. each person crawls inside and sit around the edge of the circle, facing inwards towards the central pit. It is almost entirely dark except for the faint glow from the red hot stones. This darkness represents the unknowing within the human mind. The leader of the sweat lodge has a bucket of water and a dipper. After the leader has signified that enough stones have been brought into the central pit, the leader request that the door flap be closed. From time to time, the leader will pour some water on the white-hot stones. This causes the lodge to fill up with very hot steam, which slowly disapates back to the ultra dry heat. This steam is seen as the creative force of the universe coming into action.

During the ceremony the door-flap is opened four times, once for each of the cardinal directions of the earth. A person may leave at any time, but depending upon the leader, they either may or may not be allowed back into the particular sweat they have left, at the next opening of the door flap. One leaves the lodge by exiting right. A sweat lodge can last from one hour to four or five hours. Perhaps, the greatest living leader of sweat lodges, the Wapanoag spiritual advisor Metanquat or Medicine Story of Greenville, New Hampshire (who was mentored by the legendary Lakota John Fire Lame Deer), conducts sweat lodges which can last up to four or five hours and can include as many as 80 or more stones. Perhaps, the greatest current authority on tobacco ties is Grandmother Victoria Chips of Wamblee, South Dakota.

When a person leaves the sweat lodge, they crawl out through the door flap and onto the cool outside ground. This is symbolic, experiential, and spiritual rebirth. Now refreshed, refalxed, and purified, the person has just left the womb of Mother Earth. At this point, the person may want to jump into a nearby stream or pour cold water over themselves. This is quite an experience, of which at least one person says "The world stops. You leave time itself and see all very differently." and another person says "Wow, man, this is stronger than acid, but I'm not hallucinating."

Ceremonies may be held within the sweat lodge, the sacred pipe ceremony, or various prayers can be offered.

The Purpose of the Ritual Use of Dry Heat and Steam in an Enclosed Space:
A basic assessment of purpose was to fell the loss of stress (stress is not a modern invention), a sense of wellness, a cameraderie in darkness or very limited light, in nakedness, and in a temperature which would quiet down all strong erotic feelings. The sweat lodge is often seen as the womb of the great female spirit of the earth, natural world, and ourselves. We enter the sweat-lodge to reenter the womb, to cleanse ourselves within the Great Mother who can make it possible for us to do this. While Within the sweat-lodge womb, we commune with Our Great Mother and the other Entities of Spirituality-with-Actuality, such as the spirit of the Stone People, various animals, etc. We are cleanse and put into a condition of simultaneous single and communal communion. When we crawl out of the sweat-lodge, we crawl as newly born/reborn infants first entering the world as we did when we were brought out of our biological mother's womb

The Practicality of the Sweat Lodge:
On one or another levels of knowledge, it has been known for an exceptionally long period of time, that the sweat lodge is strongly therepeutic and healing. Sweating removes toxins from the body almost as effectively as the kidneys. Most viral agents and bacteria cannot survive above the temperature 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Endocrine glands are stimulated by an inner rise in temperature and many impurities within many of the body organs are flushed out from the body as the capillaries dilate and the heart beat increases in such a way as to keep up with the hot body's demands for adequate blood. Studies in Finland have shown that this does not increase the blood pressure and, in fact, people with high blood pressure, if taking a sweat bath, will experience a marked and temporary reduction in the levels of their blood pressure.

Most sweat lodges use stones heated to very high temperatures and from time to time, the sweat lodge leader will pour cold water on these very hot stones. This causes a massive release of negative ions into the enclosed space of the sweat lodge. These negative ions help to overcome fatigue and nervous tension.

The superstructure of many sweat lodges is made of willow branches. They are very supple and can most perfectly be bent into a circle. Also, for an unknown number of centuries, many Native Amerindians have known that willow bark is a useful medicine for curing headaches and many other aches and pains. In our current world, we have taken Salicin which is the active ingredient of willow bark and synthesized acetylsalicylic acid better known as aspirin. Obviously, there are good (although perhaps unknown) effects from the heated the willow poles as various elements in the bark are drawn into the hot air of the confined space of the sweat lodge and then breathed by the participants.

The Living Being:
Among such tribes as the Nez Perce, the Yakima, the Okanagan, the Colville, and many others, the sweat lodge when in use, becomes its own living being. It is the body of the Great Mother Spirit or Great Bigenderal Spirit Chief who created All and Everything. On another level which is a twin level, once a person is in the sweat lodge, he or she is inside the womb of his or her mother, but only as their own mother is a part of the Great Mother of All Things, which is the living womb that the sweat lodge participant is now inside. And in this healing heat, energy, flickering, darkness, sensory isolation and sensory expansion, by onesself and with others, now a humble creature relaxing within a vortex of Great Power and Creation - one begins to truly pray.

8th BREATHING: SHAKTI - FIRE WITHIN THE INDIVIDUAL HUMAN BODY

"...The formation of a new feminine personality is the most important question of an ethical and civil order connected with the sexual question. Until women can attain not only a genuine independence in relation to men but also a new way of conceiving themselves and their role in sexual relations, the sexual question will remain full of unhealthy characteristics..."
Antonio Gramsci's Prison Notebooks (pp.294-7; 1934)

Perfection comes by exclusive concentration
Bhavopanishad

Know first thine own self, then wilt thou know the Mother.
Naradapancharatra

Consciousness is not seen. What can be seen is the gross. Consciousness is self-luminous, not lighted up by any other.
Devibhagavata

After the creation of human history through the rapid development of writing, the collection of sciprtures, notations, history, recipes, directions, and miscelanea greatly sped up the development of all areas of thought. The initial worship of Female Birth Ability, Female Technological Invention, and Female Intuition went from being only a profound, direct mysticism to being a profound direct mysticism with its own metaphysics, theology, poetic formula, and complex mantra.

Shakti:

The whole Universe is a form of Shakti
Shivagama

By means of Her [Shakti] is the Primal God, the Lord of All, easy to know.
Naradapancharatra

Shakti is not separate from the holder of Shakti.
This identity is as eternal as that of fire and burning.
Shaktidarshana

In his Annotations on the Sacred Writings of the Hindus (privately printed for private circulation, London; 1902), Edward Sellon says:

When the attributes of the Supreme Being began to be viewed in the light of distinct individuals, mankind attached themselves to the worship of the one or the other exclusively, and arranged themselves into sects; the worshippers of Siva introduced the doctrine of the eternity of matter. In order to reconcile the apparent contradiction of assigning the attribute of creation to the principle of Destruction, they asserted that the dissolution and destruction of bodies was not real in respect to matter, which was in itself indestructable, although its modifications were in a constant succession of mutation; that this power must necessarity unite in itself the attributes of creation and apparent destruction; that this power and matter are two distinct and co-existent principles in nature; the one active, the other passive; the one male, the other female; and that creation was the effect of the mysterious union of the two.

This Union is worshipped under a variety of names....(p.23)

From this situation sprang three different versions of this basic principle:

...the one personified the entire Universe and dispensations of providence (in the regulation of it) under the name of Prakriti, and which we from the Latin call nature. This sect retains the Sacti only, and were the originators of the Sactas sects or worshippers of POWER, before and hereafter to be alluded to. The other sect took for their symbol the Male emblem (Linga) unconnected with the female Sacti (or Yoni). There was also a third sect, who adored both male and female. (Ibid; p.24)

The worshipof Shakti is the adoration of the Power that can change all things, overturn all rules or methods, and is eternally without any boundaries (including being bound to having no boundaries)

The Supreme alone knows Herself, there is No One Else who knows Her.
Prapanchasara

The Hindus often symbolize this power as the Yoni =Vagina=Womb and the Argha =Vulva.

In the mental adoration of Sacti a diagram is framed, and the figure imagined to be seen inside the Vulva. This is the Adhamukham, or lower face, i.e. the Yoni wherin the worshipper is to imagine (mantapam) a chapel to be errected [Amanda Tantra]. (Ibid. p.59)

Although the adoration of the Sacti is authorized by some of the Puranas, the rites and formulae are more clearly set forth ina volyminous collection of books called Tantras. These writings convey their meaning in the similitude of dialogue between Uma (or Siva) and Pavati.

The followers of the Tantras profess to consider them as a fifth Vedh [Veda] and attribute to them equal antiquity and superior authority.* The observances they prescribe have in Bengal almost superseded the original Ritual, but the question of their date is involved in considerable obscurity. From the practices described in some of the Puranas, particularly that of the Diksha, or rite of initiation, from the Agni Puran [Purana], from the specification of formulae, comprising the mystical monosyllables of the Tantras, in that and other similar compliations; and from the citation of some of them by name in different puranas, we must conclude that some of the Tantras are prior to these authorities.

The Tantras are too numerous to specify them further, but the curious reader will find them under the heads of Syama Rahasya, Anandra, Rudra, Yamala, Mandra, Mahodahi, Sareda, Tilika, and Kalika- Tantras (Vide the Sanskrit copies of the Tantras in the British and Indian Museums). (Ibid, pp.50-51)

The text The Markandeya Purana lists 9 different forms for the Cosmic Female Principle or Shakti: The Shakti-Sangama Tantra lists 10 forms:
Tara:
Sodasi (Tripura)
Bhuvanesvari
Bhairavi
Chinna-Masta Dhumavati
Bagala (Bagala-Mukhi)
Matangi
Kamalatmika (Kamala)

The Devi Bhagavata Maha Purana mentions 1,000 forms for the Cosmic Female Principle or Shakti.

Shiva and Shaki:

Shiva and Shakti are one Reality say the wise ones.
There is no Shakti without Shiva, and there is no Shiva without Shakti.
Skandapurana

Shiva-Shakti form a sexualized, creative continuum. Shiva is the static force which contains and preserves Shakti, the kinetic force which brought this universe into manifestation from the mind of Shiva and it is She who is continually creating the universe and preserving the universe and all that is in it. Each is a reverse of one another, but they form a working continuum rather than a disruptive war. This working continuum of the two-cosmic-forces-as-one often is symbolized as the sexual act between a male and female.

Ardhanishvara:

Om Namo Bhagavate Ardhanishvara
Om Namo Bhagavate Ardhanishvara
Om Namo Bhagavate Ardhanishvara
Om Namo Bhagavate Ardhanishvara
Sadgurunath Mahraj Ki Jaya

The Lotus is the nelumbo of Linnaeus. It grows in the water, and amongst its broad leaves put forth a flower in the centre of which is formed the seed vessel, shaped like a bell or inverted cone, punctuated in the top with little cavities or cells in which the seeds grow; the orifices of these cells being too small to let the seeds drop out when ripe, they shoot forth into new plants in the places where they were formed; the bulb of the vessel serving as a matrix to nourish them until they acquire such a degree of magnitude as to break it open and release themselves, they take root where-ever the current deposits them.
R. Payne Knight: A Dissertation on the Worship of Priapus; London; 1786.

The Lotus is also a symbol of reproduction and generation, the flower of concealment, night, silence, mystery, and regarded with nearly the same veneration as the Yoni [Vagina] itself. In the poetical language of the Hindus, the Padma [Lotus], under its various appelations, is frequently alluded to, and is held in particuliar sanctity, not only in Hindustan, but in Thibet, Nepaul, Siam, China, Burmah, and Ceylon, where temples and the images of the gods are decked with it.

The Hindus adore the Lotus for other reasons: for example, because being able to reproduce itself without the assistance of the male pollen, it is a type of the androgynous or hermaphroditic character of the Deity. For the same reason this plant was also held sacred by the Egyptian priests.
Edward Sellon: Annotations on the Sacred Writings of the Hindus (privately printed for private circulation, London; 1902), pp. 36-37

That Divine Spirit breathed without afflation, single with (Swadha) Her who is sustained within Him, other than Her, nothing existed...

First Desire was formed in His mind, and Desire became the original productive seed.
Rg Veda; 8:393

He felt not joy, being alone. He wished for another, and instantly the desire was gratified. He caused his body to part in twain, and thus became male and female. They united and human beings were produced.
Sama Veda; 8:426

Shiva-Shakti also has been symbolized by the cosmic being Ardha-Narisvara who is half-woman and half-man,; having one breast, female hips, and a penis.

In alluding to Bhavani (Pavati) as distinguished by a variety of names implying nature, and among others using that of Shacti ( a word that is usually and in this treatise called Sacti), Paolino in hias Voyages, p.327, gives an account of the Magna Mater of the Hindus. "She changes", he says, "and transforms herself into a thousand shapes, and appears sometimes as a man and sometimes as a woman. Her votaries paint the Medhra" (in Bengal called yoni), "which is represented by two side strokes and a red one in the middle" (on the forhead). "This mark represents the womb of Bhavani," in its conventional form - Paolino's Voyage to Malabar
Edward Sellon: Annotations on the Sacred Writings of the Hindus (privately printed for private circulation, London; 1902), p. 46; footnote

The Highest Level:

Of all forms of worship, the best form is the worship of internal sacrifice. External worship is to be performed as long as true knowledge is not.
Vamakeshwara Tantra.

Ultimately, we return to the prehistoric birth porcess mysticism of the Second Ice Age. The image of birth necessarily elaborated with simple and complex image-issues of pure sexuality, sexual conduct, ecstasy, transcendence, and esoteric knowledge, to bring us closer to the Birth Process in all its aspects. In turn, this makes it more possible for us to love ourselves, one another, the universe, and the Creator (both Alone and with Creational-Process). As this process unfolds, the human senses and perception change. Happiness replaces Isolation. The search for Knowledge replaces the contentment with Ignorance. Uncaring of Others (which leads to violence) is replaced by Great Compassion (which includes caring for others). Finally, we recognize the fact that what is Totally Unknown has never hurt us, while much of what we know has, and so our whole relationship to all things and the All, drastically changes, as do all the structures (both mental and physical) with which we have enwrapped our own sense of Eternal Aspect.

When with the eye of knowledge one perceives the bodiless Self, then desire falls away and peace fills
Shataranassangraha

In our human pursuit to be at-one with the birth process, we shall continue to learn more and more about ourselves and the universe. And as we learn more and more, also, we confront the fact and knowledge, that the Unknown has become more profound and that we now know that we know less. Further, we know we know less by knowing more. This process can feel uncomfortable. In fact, often, it feels like a destruction of self, an explosion within the comfortable structure of the belief in a naturalistic gradual evolution of all things. The temptation of running away from these concepts is often elaborated into such things as the aetheism of Robert Ingersoll, the 20th century existential thought of Jean-Paul Sartre, Deconstructionist Philosophy, , or the specific fear-fundamentalism (as opposed to simple and calmly pervasive fundamentalism) of apocalyptic doomsayers such as Hal Lindsey.

In Peter Wier's classic motion picture, The Last Wave, an Australian tribal aboriginal leader and wisedom-holder in New South Wales, named Charlie asks Richard Chamberlain:

"Who are you? Who are you? Who are you?"
"Are you a fish?"
"Are you a bird?"
"Are you a mulkru?" [a prophet at the end of a passing world].

To the very last question Richard Chamberlain responds "Yes" and in so doing, greatly suprises himself and is afraid. Are we, the human race, consistently capable of surprising ourselves and are we consistently, as a world culture, afraid of this self-surprise? Do we call this self-surprise Apocalypse?

As long as we allow the varied powers and events of daily life to be used as a way to keep women sociopolitically divorced and excluded from all vital power structures, we (both men and women) automatically have divorced and excluded ourselves from the metaphysical (which are real) power structures built upon the birth process and first recognized at least as long ago as the Second Ice Age and which is, at the very minimum, one of the most important building blocks of the original creation of human culture, knowledge systems, technology, and wound-healing. If this had not existed as it did, if this had not flourished as it did and in some places, still does, these messages, and the importances of culture, knowledge, technology, communications, psychology, and medicine would still be momnetary glimmers of there's something in the back of my mind and I don't know what it is!...Oh, well!...as we sit near one another in a circle (perhaps) and wonder if we will ever be able to create another campfire, like the one we did last week, apparently, by accident, because no one can duplicate that effort. (Not quite yet!) Always, we can hope!

9th BREATHING: LOOKING INTO THE DARKNESS WHEN ENCLOSED IN AN OBJECT INFINITELY SMALLER THAN THE SKY – Pools of Water, Burial Pits, and Hand-Made Hats.

“If you look into the Abyss long enough,
You will find that the Abyss is looking back into you.”
-Frederick Nietzsche

We can look at the many existing examples of “Venuses” from the Neanderthal Period and also a similar period in Archaic China, where stout large breasted, short women are all wearing knitted or woven hats (very much like “watch caps”) over the top of the head and covering their ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. It appears that no one wants to talk about these or understands the why and wherefore of them.

It is reasonable that some woman leader pulled her prehistoric “watch cap” over her face , either to keep warm or to create an internal privacy in the communality of a cave, and saw visions.

Approximately, 1,001,960 years later. Someone created a public religion about this and how easy it was to attain a personal spirituality by doing this. This person was commonly known as Jack Pratt.

THE ORIGINAL AND REAL GHOST RELIGION – Rediscovered by Wovoka Looking Into His Dark Black Hat

You must not fight.
Do no harm to anyone.
Do right always.
Wovoka

The name Wovoka means The Cutter. No one has offered an explanation for this name. It probably derived from a vision had by Wovoka's father. Wovoka was born circa 1856, in Nevada. He was the son of Tavibo (?-ca. 1870), the prophet of Mason Valley. The name Tavibo means The Man of White. Tavibo also may have been known as Waughzeewaughber. Tavibo was revered as a great holy being by his people. Until Tavibo's death, Wovokaa was taught to carry on the tradition of being a spiritual being. Wovoka has said that his father was a Dreamer, but not a Preacher and that he had supernatural powers. Tavibo died when Wovoka was approximately 14 years old. Tavibo had never left Mason Valley. Nothing is known of Wovoka's mother. This native valley was a narrow strip of flat prairie, 30 miles long. Medicine Sage grew abundantly in this area, which was surrounded by the snow-capped high sierras and thick forests of pine. To the south of this valley is the sacred mountain of the Paiute. Here on this sacred mountain, the original Holy Father gave the Paiutes their first fire, taught them how to survive and live peacefully, and then returned to his home in the upper region of the Sun-Land.

Most of Nevada is arid desert. There are mountains, alkali plains, and small, narrow strips of ariable land within some mountain valeys and on the edges of several of the larger lakes. Here a few caucasians raised stock and because of their own very small population, hired Native Americans as laborers, who would work for relatively fair wages during the summer months, and in the fall and winter would return to their native areas to hunt, fish, gather nuts, and live their traditional life.

Wovoka became a ranch hand for a David Wilson, who gave him the name Jack Wilson, by which he was generally known while living among the caucasians. Here he learned the English language and Christian theology. Wovoka married and continued to work for David Wilson.

At the approximate age of 30 years, Wovoka .publicly declared that he had experienced a revelation from the Highest Powers of Life. He had been seriously ill, probably having a near-death experience. During this experience, he saw that "the Sun died" (an internalized solar eclipse) and had fallen into a trance, transcended time and space and his consciousness was taken up into another world. Here he met A Superior Form of Power and saw all the people who had died since the beginning of human life. Everyone was happy and actively involved in doing various things. After Superior Form of Power had shown him the people and this land, he told Wovoka to go back to the 19th century AD Earth, and tell his people that all persons, everyone, must live in peace and harmony. All war practices must be ended. All implements of war must be destroyed and discarded. All people must be ethical and love one another. If they lived, faithful to this lifestyle, they would be reunited with everyone in the otherworld and be happy forever. Here, in this otherworld, there would be no death, sickness, or old age. This Otherworld describes very much like the Garden of Eden where people live a simple lifestyle. It would be a land capable of surviving colonization, western expansion, and it would be post-industrial. This Otherworld would be the golden future of the earth, put on another level of existence and a future which had been brought into the present time. This regeneration was to take place on July 4th or the springtime of an unspecified year

Next, Superior Form of Power gave Wovoka, the instructions for a sacred dance which he was to bring back to his people. This dance was to be performed at intervals for five consecutive days. Each time this five-day dance cycle was followed through, the day of this great change of world-to-world would be made sooner.

Lastly, Superior Form of Power gave Wovoka control over the elements. Thus Wovoka was able to bring rain or snow or dry up the ground. Superior Form of Power said that Wovoka was appointed as Superior Form of Power's personal deputy to oversee the affairs of the western part of the United States continent, while "Governor Harrison" (President Benjamin Harrison) was appointed a deputy in the eastern area. Superior Form of Power himself would take care of thesky and the rest of the universe.

Wovoka then returned to the everyday world and began to preach his message, performing miraculous events to convince his hearers that what he said was true.

When was this solar eclipse which was visible in Nevada? On New Year's Eve 1892, in an interview with James Mooney, Wovoka said that the "sun had died" about two years earlier. Given Native American reckoning of years by winters instead of months, this would place the solar eclipse (total eclipse) on January 1, 1889. However, the following should be noted as they may all have had an impact upon Wovoka:
October 18, 1884 - partial solar eclipse

In 1890, a Paiute named Josephus told the following tale to the scout, Arthur Chapman: About three years ago, Jack Wilson took his family and went to the mountains to cut wood for Mr. Dave Wilson. One day while at work, he heard a great noise which appeared to be above him on the mountain. He laid down his axe and started to go in the direction of the noise, when he fell down dead, and Superior Form of Power came and took him to heaven.
At another time: Superior Form of Power came and took him to heaven again.

The Ghost Dance:

During January 1889, the first Ghost Dance took place on Walker Lake Reservation about a mile above the railroad bridge near the agency. Wovoka, himself, conducted the Ghost Dance. A dance circle was made. No fire was allowed within the circle, but there were fires, outside and near the circle. the Paiute word for Ghost Dance is Nanigukwa meaning a dance in a circle. Always, the Ghost Dance was held at night.

On June 15, 1890, a very long statement concerning the Ghost Dance and Wovoka was made by a Native American named Porcupine to Major Carroll, who was in command of Camp Crook at Tongue River Agency, Montana. This statement was sent throught the United States War Department to the Indian Office. Here follows an abreviated version:

In November last [1889] I left the reservation with two other Cheyennes. I went through [Fort] Washakie and took the Union Pacific railroad at Rawlins. We got on early in the morning about breakfast, rode all day on the railroad, and about dark reached a fort [Bridger?]. I stayed there two days and then took a passenger train and the next morning got to Fort Hall. I found some lodges of Snakes and Bannocks there. I saw an agent here and he told me I could stay at the agency, but the chief of the Bannocks told me they were glad to see a Cheyenne and that we ought to make a treaty with the Bannocks.

The chief told me he had been to Washington and had seen the President and that we ought all to be friends with the whites and live in peace with them and with each other. We talked these matters over for ten days. The agent then sent for me and some of the Bannocks and Shoshones and asked me where I was going. I told him I was just travelling to meet other Indians and see other countries; that my people were at peace with the whites and I thought I could travel anywhere I wished. He asked me why I did not have a pass. I said because my agent would not give me one. He said that he was glad to see me anyhow and that the whites and Indians were all friends. Then he asked me where I wanted a pass to. I told him I wanted to go further and some Bannocks and Shoshones wanted to go along.

There follows a long series of friendly meetings and traveling from one place to another.

I went to the agency at Walker Lake and they told us that The Glowing Skin And Son of Power would be there in two days. At the end of two days, on the third morning, hundreds of people gathered at this place. They cleared off a place near the agency in the form of a circus ring and we all gathered there. This space was perfectly cleared of grass, etc. We waited there till late in the evening, anxious to see The Glowing Skin And Son of Power. Just before sundown I saw a great many people, mostly Indians, coming dressed in a white man's clothes. The The Glowing Skin And Son of Power was with them. They formed in this ring in a circle around him. They put up sheets all around the circle, as they had no tents. Just after dark some of the Indians told me that the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power (father) was arrived. I looked around to find him and finally saw him sitting on one side of the ring. They all started toward him to see him. They made a big fire to throw light on him. I never looked around, but went forward, andd when I saw him I bent my head. I had always thought the Great Father was a white man, but this man looked like an Indian. He sat there a long time and nobody went up to speak to him. He sat with his head bowed all the time. After a while he rose and said he was very glad to see his children. "I have sent for you and am glad to see you. I am going to talk to you after awhile about your relatives who are dead and gone. My children, I want you to listen to all I have to say to you. I will teach you, too, how to dance a dance, and I want you to dance it. Get ready for your dance and then, when the dance is over, I will talk to you." He was dressed in a white coat with stripes. The rest of his dress was a white man's except that he had on a pair of moccasins. Then he commenced our dance, everybody joining in, the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power singing while we danced. We danced till late in the night, when he told us we had danced enough.

The next morning, after breakfast was over, we went into the circle and spread canvas all over the ground, the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power standing in the midst of us. He told us he was going away that day, but would be back that next morning to talk to us.

That evening we all assembled again to see him depart. When we were assembled, he began to sing, and he commenced to tremble all over, violently for a while, and then sat down. We danced all that night, the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power lying down beside us apparently dead.

The next morning when we went to eat breakfast, the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power was with us. After breakfast four heralds went around and called out that The Glowing Skin And Son of Power was back with us and wanted to talk with us. The circle was prepared again. The people assembled, and The Glowing Skin And Son of Power came among us and sat down. He said he wanted to talk to us again and for us to listen. He said: "I am the man who made everything you see around you. I am not lying to you my children. I made this earth and everything on it. I have been to heaven and seen your dead friends and I have seen my own father and mother. In the beginning, after Superior Form of Power made the earth, they sent me back to teach the people, and when I came back on earth the people were afraid of me and treated me badly. that is what they did to me [showing his scars]. I did not try to defend myself. I found my chiildren were bad, so I went back to heaven and left them. I told them that in so many hundred years, I would come back to see my children. At the end of this time I was sent back to try to teach them. My father told me the earth was getting old and worn out and the people were getting bad, and that I was to renew everything as it used to be, and make it better.

He told us that all our dead were to be reincarnated on Earth; that they were all to come back to earth, and that as the earth was too small for them and us, he would do away with heaven, and make the earth itself large enough to contain us all; that we must tell all the people we meet about these things. He spoke to us about fighting and said that was bad, and we must keep from it; that the earth was to be all good hereafter, and we must all be friends with one another. He said that in the fall of the year the youth of all the good people would be renewed, so that no one would be more than forty years old and if they behaved themselves well after this the youth of everyone would be renewed in the spring. He said if we were all good he would send people among us who could heal all our wounds and sickness by mere touch, and that we would live forever. He told us not to quarrel or fight, nor strike each other, nor shoot one another; that the whites and the Indians were to be all one people. He said if any man disobeyed what he had ordered, his tribe would be wiped from the face of the earth.; that we must believe everything he said and that we must not doubt him or say he lied; that if we did, he would know it; that he would know our thoughts and actions, in no matter what part of the world we might be.

When I heard this from the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power and came back home to tell my people, I thought they would listen. Where I went to there were lots of white people, but I never had one of them say an unkind word to me. I thought all of your people knew all of this I have told you of, but it seems you do not.

Ever since the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power I speak of talked to me I have thought what he said was good. I see nothing bad in it. When I got back, I knew my people were bad, and had heard nothing of all this, so I got them together and told them of it and warned them to listen to it for their own good. I talked to them for four nights and five days. I told them just what I have told you here today. I told them what I said were the words of Superior Form of Power Almighty, who was looking down on them. I wish some of you had been up in our camp nere to have heard my words to the Cheyennes. The only bad thing that there has been in it all was this: I had just told my people that the The Glowing Skin And Son of Power would visit the sins of any Indian upon the whole tribe, when the recent trouble [killing of Ferguson] occurred. If any one of you think I am not telling the truth, you can go and see this man I speak of for yourselves. I will go with you, and I would like one or two people who doubt me to go with me.

The The Glowing Skin And Son of Power talked to us all in our respective tongues. You can see this man in your sleep any time you want after you have seen him and shaken hands with him once. Through him you can go to heaven and meet your friends. Since my return I have seen him often in my sleep. About the time the soldiers went up to the Rosebud, I was lying in my lodge asleep, when this man appeared and told me the Indians had gotten into trouble, and I was frightened. The next night he appeared to me and told me that everything would come out all right.

During January 1892, James Mooney saw the remnants of a Ghost Dance led by Wovoka: I saw...the place cleared for the dance ground - the same spot where the delegation from Oklahoma had attended the dance the preceeding summer - at the upper end of Mason Valley. A large circular space had been cleared of sagebrush and leveled over, and around the circumference were the remains of the low round structures of willow branches which had sheltered those in attendance. At one side, within the circle, was a larger structure of branches, where the messiah gave audience to the delegates from distant tribes, and according to statements, showed them the glories of the spirit world through the medium of hypnotic trances. The Paiute always dance five nights, or perhaps more properly four nights and the morning of the fifth day, as enjoined by the messiah on the visiting delegates, ending the performance with a general shaking and waving of blankets, as among the prairie tribes, after which all go down and bath in the nearest stream. The shaking of the blankets dispels all evil influences and drives sickness and disease away from the dancers...I saw no trace of sweat-house frames at any of there campsNakash, the Arapaho who visited the messiah in 1889 and first brought the dance to the eastern tribes, confirmed the statements of the Paiute and ranchmen that there were no trances in the Paiute Ghost Dance.

Frequently practiced is the blessing of the laying of hands upon a person's head and then slowly drawing the hands down along the face and chest or the arms.

A Paiute Trinity:
The Great Spirit or The Glowing Skin And Son of Power is the immediate connection to all and everything.
Numi'naa' is the Great Our Father who is the Great Ancestor of all Paiutes.
Ibidsii is the Great Mother of all Piautes.

A Paiute Genesis:

In the beginning the world was all water and remained so for a long time. Then all the water began to go down. Kura'nga (Mount Grant) rose up from the water (near the southwest end of Walker Lake). Fire existed on the top of Kura'nga. When the wind blew hard, the water flew against and over the fire. The fire would have gone out, but the sage hen (hutsi-Centrocercus urophasianus) nestled over this fire and with her wings fanned the water away from the fire. The heat scorched her wings and breats and to this day, they are black in color. Later, the Paiutes got their first privately owned fire from this mountain because they were helped by the jackrabbit, whose activities are very powerful and produce wonders in this world. The water continued to subside and the world became as we know it today.

Accounts of Wovoka:

During the winter of 1892, Black Coyote, an Arapaho told how he and Tall Bull, a Cheyenne, and captain of the Indian Police, along with some other Native Americans had had a meeting with Wovoka. Wovoka sat on the ground facing the other Native Americans. His large sombrero was placed upside down on the ground between himself and the other Native Americans. He held eagle feathers in his hand, which suddenly and quickly, he waved over the hat.

According to Tall Bull, Wovoka removed "something black" from the hat. That is all he would say.

According to Black Coyote, he looked into Wovoka's hat and inside this hat, he "saw the whole world".

Wovoka's uncle, Charley Sheep, has mentioned that Wovoka had five songs for making it rain (it is unknown whether any of these songs were transcribed or recorded):
First Song creates mist or a cloud.
Second Song creates snowfall.
Third Song creates a mild rain shower.
Fourth Song creates a lashing rain storm.
Fifth Song recreates clear weather.

The Messiah Letter (Cheyenne Version) quoted by James Mooney:

When you get home, you have to make dance. You must dance four nights and one day time. You will take bath in the morning before you go to yours homes, for every body, and give you all the same as this. Jackson Wilson likes you all, he is glad to get good many things. His heart satting fully of gladness, after you get home, I will give you a good cloud and give you a chance to make you feel good. I give you a good spirit, and I give you a good paint, I want you people to come here again, want them in three months any tribe of you from there. There will be a good snow this year. Some time rains fall this year some rain, never give you any thing like that, grandfather said, when they were die never cry, no hurt any body, do any harm for it, not to fight. Be a good behave always. It will give a satisfaction in your life. This young man is a good father and mother. Do not tell the white people about this. Juses is on the groung, he just like cloud. Every body is alive again. I don't know when he will be here, may be will be this fall or in spring. When it happen, it may be this. There will be no sickness and return to young again. Do not refuse to work for white man or do not make any trouble with them until you leave them. When the earth shakes do not be afraid it will not hurt you. Iwant you to make dance for six weeks. Eat and wash good clean yourselves [the rest of the letter had been erased].

When Your Friends Die You Must Not Cry:

What Wovoka meant by this was that funerals were to be calm and solemn events. No longer were people to cut off their own hair, gash their own bodies with knives, burn down tipis, destroy property, and kill horses - all of which was common custom.

Because of this new commandment, an Arapaho father whose little son had just died said: I shall not shoot any ponies, and my wife will not gash her arms. We used to do this when our friends died, because we thought we would never see them again, and it made us feel bad. But now we know we shall be united again.

Women's Rights:

It is interesting to note that until the Ghost Dance reached the prairie indians, women were not allowed to wear feathers in their hair. These feathers symbolised strength and wisdom and was basically an elementary badge of allmost-equality. When a person was given the feather, they were allowed to learn the secret songs, dances, and rituals, usually reserved for the males.

You Must Not Fight:

This meant that there was to be a complete end to The War Dance, The Scalp Dance, and The Sun Dance (with its self-inflicted torture).

In the words of James Mooney:

Only those who have known the deadly hatred that once animated Ute, Cheyenne, and Pawnee, one toward another, and are able to contrast it with their present spirit of mutual brotherly love can know what the Ghost-dance religion has accomplished in bringing the savage into civilization. It is such a revolution as comes but once in the life of a race.

Sad End Note: It is necessary to state that Wovoka’s Ghost Religion was turned into a fundamentalist cult which glorified war, ritual mutilation, and red racial supremacy.

Sitting Bull (Hana'cha-thi'ak):
[note: This Sitting Bull is not to be confused with the more well-known medicine man, Sitting Bull, who was involved with the Battle of the Little Bighorn and the War of 1890, which ended with the massacre at Wounded Knee.]

Sitting Bull became an apostle of the Ghost Dance in 1890. He was approximately 36 years old. He was about 5'8" tall, very light skinned, and was known for his friendly smile. As a boy, he was known as Bitaye meaning The Captor. His brother had the same name, so he changed his name to Scabby Bull.

The following first hand account of Sitting Bull comes from captain H. L. Scott in "The Messiah dance in the Indian Territory". Essay for the Fort Sill lyceum, March 1892 [manuscript]:

Upon being asked concerning his religion, he said that all I had heard must not be attributed to him as some of it was false; that he does not believe that he saw the veritable "Jesus" alive in the north, but he did see a manthere whom "Jesus" had helped or inspired. This person told him that if he perservered in the dance it would cause sickness and death to disappear....

Black Coyote (Wa'tan-ga'a):

Black Coyote became a Ghost Dance leader at the approximate age of 40 years. He amassed many carriages, wagons, livestock, various other forms of wealth, and three wives. He was a tribal delegate to Washington, DC, Captain of the Indian Police, and tried to become an official general evangelical of the Ghost Dance, licensed by the United States government. He reintroduced self-scarrification and mutillation, believing it to be a healing prayer for the lives of dying children. Although, he had met Wovoka earlier, he went against the edict of ritual cutting.

9th BREATHING: AFTER THE “ORIGIN QUESTION” ARRIVED – “HOW DID OUR REALITY START?

{insert poem: Message on a Stick)

Part A
IN THE BEGINNING: The Language of Stone Tool Making

The Recognitions of Extensions of Power:

The Primary Pre-Language on our earth was driven into being under the pressure of the recognition of physical movement itself and purely, as the primal experience, recognized [repetition of root word recognize, is completely deliberate] that sequential motion and time are linked and that if we watch this process "well-enough", we can see ourselves and do things, which we then compare with a later repeated experience. thus creating a sense of Other Within Oneself. One then dips in and out of these various recognitions. As these Recognition Moments occur more and more frequently, one begins to see a pattern called "Pattern Recognition of a Pattern or Patterns "collectively-in-moment, which coalesces into an Over-Pattern of Patterns, which to survive as such through mind alone, always will require the refoundationing through re-examination of the simpler and/or simplest patterns. Now the human mind was ready to not only communicate with Itself and Exterior Selves, but, further, to communicate to their Self and Others, the part of self (a recognition), which sees Itself as Other. This was the moment of First Time First Language.

The points of pressure for creating this situation were born from the direct percussion flaking of stone tools. Why? The act of making paleolithic (old stone age) tools was, perhaps, the most common experience of early mankind and certainly the most common experience of complex experience contains an easily observed pattern of synapse of images [the birth of motion pictures, perhaps]. linking time, motion, continuity and breaks in contenuity, one can observe oneslef doing something which has been done before and this same observation made the same way on repeated occasions, become an image of communication as much as any memory which feeds the image of communication , with reinforcement of color, form, movement, duration, sequence as well as create a layer of insulation between the complete reliving of the memory in question and the complete experience that this never happen [memory, itself, nonfunctional] - which means that We See Our Own Seeing.

And the paleolithic stone tools were the creatorial tool for engraving, cuting, and placing marks which symbolized that The Self and with Group of Self had communicated. The Proto Pre-Language had externalized the Selfs' Memory-of-Self-for-that Exact-Moment.

At the time of happening of this whole "Recognitions Structure", Primary Language was born.

Part B
THE PRIMARY LANGUAGE

Begin with mankind's control of fire, by 500,00 BC. Then almost a quarter of a million years later, Homo Erectus becomes the flint-chipper. She/he created the eolith or Acheulian blade (the term Abbevillian blade is used for the same tool when found in Europe) in Egypt area circa. 250,000-300,000 BC. = hand axe. This tool was the first consciously recognized conscious extension of man's mind and body. The breaking forth of conscious recognition began with the mousterian pebble tool circa 500,000 BC when the instinct for mechanical advantage had become fully active, probably from the various actions of using old bones, pieces of organic material like sticks and branches, etc. But the modern leap to technology began with the second hand tool (the acheulian blade (not the mousterian pebble tool) because the instinct plus other indeterminate factors had lead to CONSCIOUS RECOGNITION OF THE EXTENSIONS TO GREATER POWER and this conscious realization led to awe and fear - their variations being 1.) awe, 2.) fear, 3.) awe and fear together.

Man needs for different classes of tools:

1.) Tools which are moved along the axis of their working edge logitudinally.
Most of the time their functioning is on a vertical plane. Examples: saws;
knives.

2.) Tools which are moved perpendicularly to the axis of their working edges,
transversely. Most of the time their functioning is one a horizontal plane.
Examples: chisels; scrapers; gouges; planes.

3.) Tools which are used to make perforations. Examples: hole-punches; drills;
spears; needles.

4.) Tools which are used by percussion for various purposes. Examples: hammers;
hand axes; choppers; cleavers.

In ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, the earliest known word for "supreme-and-only-god" is NTR (NETER) which also means HAND AXE. This hand axe was an all purpose tool somewhat like the "Popil Pocket Fisherman" knife of the 1960s and 1970s. Now, it is generally accepted that the Old Stone Age or Paleolithic Era was the time when stone tools were made exclusively by the direct percussion of flint and other forms of stone. And although, the dates vary from place to place, this is the universal first step of mankinds technological development.

Tools and Gender Specialization:
Generally, it is assumed that while men were hunting for food, women were giving birth, preparing food, cleaning (in their own terms), and repairing the worn and damaged stone tools, and creating new ones. No later than at this point can we claim the divergent (and thus creatiion) of what we may call ORIGINAL MALE AND FEMALE CONSCIOUSNESS. The first division of labor might be:

Primary sophistication fragmenting undifferentiated survival sense of technique into:

MEN developing survival techniques OUTSIDE OF ENCLOSURE, which would include hunting long distances, primal geography, greatest observation of other species, food gathering, search for shelter, search for and capture of friendly and compliant same species males and females toexpand the tribal family, and/or because of some personal attraction (conscious level) and to maintain genetic diversity (unconscious level), and solar, lunar, and stellar navigation (primal astronomy), vertically structured social organization, and the primal acceptance of "things as they are" through the complete religious acceptance and religiosity of the directpercussion stone blade as the earthly realization of REAL POWER.

WOMEN developing survival techniques INSIDE OF ENCLOSURE which would include hunting short distances (looking for lost objects, seeds, sprouts, etc), environmental observation (the sky, the relation of weather to plant growth and water cycles), the selecting of wild grasses for nutrient value (primal nutrition),growing plants (primal agriculture),creation of designed clothing (spining, weaving, sewing, dyeing), keeping track of things-objects, growing rhythms, childbirth (primal mathematics), primal art and design ( from the tension between the urge to know more and primal mathematics), the varied use of sexual diversity (multiple partners) to maintain hegemony with the more warlike vertically socialized male (conscious level) and to maintain genetic diversity (unconscious level), horozontally structured social organization, and the primal acceptance of orderly, birth of new ideas, rebirthof ideas and form, through the indeterminate yet complete religious acceptance and religiosity of the continual polishing and creation of new specificities for the stone tool created by direct percussion, indirect percussion, grinding, polishing, and redesigning the stone tool as the earthly realization of REAL POWER.

Between 290,000 BC and 140,000 BC, the earth was inhabited by perhaps as few as 50,000 humans.

Were there any other possible factors of possible development directly related to stone tool making?

The Microlith: (or miniature/very small stone or flint tool) first appeared in the Magdalenian culture (the Europe Upper Paleolithic Period) and even earlier levels of the Upper Paleolithic Period (30,000 BC to 10,000 BC). These microliths varied in size from a half inch to two inches, they were designed to be either used in a stand-alone fashion for some very specific purpose or they were mounted in groups on or along the edges of various wood or bone implements.

Microliths were manufactured from very small blade nuclei, sometimes no more than half an inch in length. These were worked with a punch and a hammer. Sometimes they were worked with using different kinds of direct pressure. Later, a method was devised of fragmenting larger blades by using a notching technique, which some anthropologists call the micro-burin technique.

It has been computed that more than three hundred feet of cutting edge can be obtained from two pounds of flintwhen using these two pounds exclusively for manufacturing microliths.

The manufacture of microliths began before the end of the Pleistocene Period and it became much more widespread in post-glacial times in The Old World. Japanese microliths have been found dating to approximately 10,000 BC. Although difficult to date, microliths from Southern India probably date back to 4,000 BC. Australian microliths have been found dating to 3,000 BC. South Africa was the last area to begin manufacturing microliths and this was very late, being approximately 1000 BC. Very few microliths have been found in southern China and Southeast Asia and their actual dates are very uncertain.

Also, it is certain, that during the Upper Paleolithic Period, there was a marked increase in the specific variations and specializations with stone blade tools.

One can view the development and spreading use of the microlith as mankind's first attempt at miniaturization and the original vision which carried some 30,000 years into our present has led to the development of both the microchip and the "motherboard".

As time passed, this configuration became deeply ingrained within the male and female cycles of communication. At those points where there was a mutual acceptance and understanding, there was the beginning, continuation, and development of human civilization. At those point where there was either no mutual acceptance or there existed mutual confusion, there was created ongoing personal and collective trauma within the actual event creation process and within the development (on all levels) of the human civilization itself.

For this situation to end through resolution, there had to be a point of total emotional, rational, environmental, intuitive, and mystical convergence. Until the inauguration speech of President John F. Kennedy, the opportunity did not present itself. On that day, he made the clear statement that the human race led by America was to put at least one of its own species on the Moon by the end of the decade. In effect, he declared the human race's committment to explore the universe, which completely redefined mankind's known and expected future relationships with dimension itself. Also, it destroyed the geocentric attitude - the attitude that we are only earthlings and we are rooted or stuck on this one particular planet for all of eternity. By 1970, the human race had landed several of its own kind on the Moon. "One small step for man, one giant step for mankind" (Astronaut Neil Armstrong).

During the 1950s and especially the period 1959-1963, there was a highly controlled and well-funded exploration of "inner space" or "Consciousness expansion" through the testing of psychotropic or psychedelic drugs on animals and humans as well as laboratory analysis of a number of naturally growing plants (many containing tryptamine) which were thought to have mind altering properties. Such people as Dr. Humphrey Osmond, Dr. Herman Colomb and Dr. Timothy Leary, as well as R. Gordon Wasson, Richard Evans Schultes, and others were conducting these test. Believed to have been begun in the early 1950s, The United States government had maintained a secret program called MK-ULTRA which conducted a series of on-going tests with psychedelics.

Thus in approximately a quarter of a million years, humanity had progressed from the first basic tools and a self-imposed learning imperative which was fundamental to his/her consciousness, had mentally divided itself into a highly defined consciousness of male and female gender, developed sophisticated communications and data retrieval systems, and, as a group, had become the most dangerous and territorial animal on the Planet Earth.

Self and Other:
During this same period, humanity also had developed alternative strategies to his/her own personal and collective thinking. These strategies were mainly embedded in areas of thought labelled "religion", "philosophy", "art", "science", "sociology", "anthropology", and so on. On the one hand, these created fields of learning, supported humanities ability to observe, reason, invent, remember, and teach others. On the other hands, these created fields of learning also created doubt and questioning, and even maintained contradictory views. Until 1971, this was the basic First World environment of humanity.

When Worlds Collide: Stone Age and Industrial-technological.
Remember that in 1971, there were still Stone Age people living in various parts of the world including the South Pacific. If we go back 500 years, it is easy to prove that the majority of all humanity on the Planet Earth, were Stone Age people and who had adapted to their environment (including their own social environment) with a great deal of intelligence. The social, mental, and emotional struture of most (if not all of these) Stone Age groups was attacked, damaged, ripped apart, controlled, or utterly destroyed by the First World Caucasians of Great Britain and Europe and later of the United States of America and Russia. The Stone Age mind was practically picked up and forcefully thrown into an apolcalyptic brick wall called "Western Civilization" and later "Western Industrial-Technological Civilization".

This major mental and emotional group impact throws so many questions and doubts into the impacted culture, that, almost immediately, the culture begins to have quickly developed trends to:

1.) Return to the "good old days" and/or the "pre-cataclysmic event days"

2.) Place blame on some aspect or aspects of one or some or all of the socially weaker groups. This blame can lead to expressed bigotry, segregation, economic vertical hierarchies, caste systems, concentration camps, torture, and murder.

3.) Mindlessly embrace every new or startling thing that has appeared within the culture.

4.) Cautiously try to make sense out of what has happened, what is happening, and what may happen.

The results of a mixing of any or all of these processes or the use of any one of these processes, comes out of this personally upsetting and previously comforting environment , correctly have been attached to the phrases "You Can't Go Home Again" (Thomas Wolfe) and "Future Shock" (Alvin Toffler).

Often, in this type of situation, we take our new observations and connect them with our traditional "values" We use our past tools to do new, often inappropraited jobs, and we use our new tools to do old jobs inappropriate to the new tools, but fully still appropriate for the old tools. In many cases, automatically, we see the new through the eyes of the old and we are forced to see the old through the eyes of the new.

If this is not enough, individual people and groups of individual people will often mentally and quite often physically (situationally) as well, reenact a traunatic event in order to feel some personal relief and /or experience some regaining of power. This process is done by the person or persons in question without any or much conscious recognition of any part of this process and they can repeat this process many times, while never recognizing the true meaning of what they are doing. Specifically, this means that in the situation of the collision of two cultures or a collision of a culture with some new form of reality. The person or persons experiencing this can take the interpretations or misinterpretations based upon their knowledge of their past and their own reactive patterns in that past, use all this to define, explain, and create solution for the traumatic event and then recreate it in their own environment. This recreation can appear to be quite different and its ultimate function can reimpact the culture in a new and different manner.

Conservatively speaking, between the years 1492 AD and 1950, most Stone Age people suffered major cultural, social, mental, and physical cataclysm produced by the Caucasian culture. This cataclysm came from the physical "outside" and "mental "outside" world of the conquistadores, explorers, slavers,, and colonialists which included different cultural and religious mores, the slave trade, colonialism, superior tools and weapons, and from a land completely unknown, perhaps completely unthought about by the Stone Age people themselves. The Stone Age had entered the beginning of the Historic Period..

Between the years 1865 AD and 1971, the Caucasian Culture suffered the same major cultural, social, mental, and physical catclysm which was produced by their own attempt to control most or all of the planet. This cataclysm came from the "outside" world of the controlled, conquered, and enslaved producing uprising and personal safety problems, incredible amounts of mined ore, cheap or free labor, and massive agriculture (this is what slaves do), the colonist geographies which produced wildly abundant new resources (often free for the taking), industrialism going into such startling development that small groups of Caucasians became excessively powerful and even began to subtly enslave their own people. This process of massive slavery use coupled with maximizing profit from home-area labor by keeping working , living, and wage standards low, created tribal groups within western society, which then suffered from other groups deliberately or inadvertently producing sub-cultural cataclysm. Thus, these people were just as subject to a mental "outside" world attacking their personal values and demonstating the reality of tools which they could either not fully understand and oftern could not afford to own.

With these issues, we can see the two solutions of Communism and Capitalism occur as imperfect, often dangerous solutions to daily life created by different mental tribes.

Now the stage was set for the First World to loose its stability. Its major caltaclysmic disaster were the American Civil War, the Crimean War, World War I, the European, British, and American depressions, World War II, and the exploding of the Atom Bomb. The final cultural collapse was created by the twin engine the new publicness of psychedelic drugs an (1963)d the real and extraordinary event of the American Moon Landing (1971).

Psychedelic drugs destroyed the "sure and certain hope" doctrine that the human imagination was only a toy, that humans really truly understand their own human mind, that religious spirituality was more profound than a personally or publicly stated belief system, that materialism ultimately could not be a source of power and happiness, and that, although badly and wrongly talked about, and just as often lied about and misunderstood, nevertheless, what we call the "supernatural" world was real. Further, we had become so culturally smug about Western reeligion, that we were totally unprepared for this revelation.

The American Moon Landing destroyed the Ptolomaic Geokentron or long held physical, and scientific belief, and finally only the strong emotional personal sense that the Planet Earth was the center of the universe in not physically, but in a strong, fuzzy "every=other-way" and in some cases definitely in the Western and Eastern religious sense. When Neil Armstrong put his first footprint on the Moon, the entire world, especially the First World, lost forever, their own geocentric emotional security.

Finally, the slaves and slaveholders, the First, Third, and Fourth World were on one basis of equality. For different reasons in different cultures, this scared a lot of people. The umbilichus to the human past was gone. At the same time, the human past was better known than ever before. Modern electronc media was destroying full reliance on linear thought and modern media was in the final stages of destroying the possibility of any future use or belief in any linear historical process. The First World had entered the first phase of The Post-Historic Period.

The choice for both The Stone Age World and The First World was simple. Self-destruct or evolve - and evolve quickly without too many mistakes and with a lessened sense of tribal, racial, or monetary exclusivity. Former slave and former master had both lost their created identities. Gender identities had become one-dimensional. Women were breeders, nurses, and cooks. Men were messengers, carriers, and killers.

Thus whether in the South Seas or in the First World, cultural groups had:

1.) Lost their close connection to their own past history.

2.) Lost their ability to remain culturally or geographically isolated.

3.) Lost their own past interpretation of any and all of their own religions.

4.) Lost their own interpretation and past use of money or whatever they used as a means and/or symbol of exchange.

5.) Lost their own past (and long in existence) relationship to any form of land and water.

6.) Lost some privacy.

7.) Lost their ability to utilize time itself according to their own individual likes, dislikes, and scheduling.

8.) Lost exclusivity over all of their own cultural information.

9.) Lost their ability to define the borders of their own reality.

10.) Gained many loan words, slang words, and speech patterns from the languages of other foreign, incompletely understood cultures.

11.) Gained knowledge from other cultures which was fascinating, or frightening or incomprehensible or incompletely understood or some combination of these.

12.) Gained a sense of globalism.

13.) Now lived in a world which was conscious of their own consciousness of discontinuity.

Ogum Consaine and the Later Tifinag: The First Graphics of Arithmetic and Language.

Ogum is an alphabet not a language. The Journal of the Royal Historical and Archeological Association of Ireland by George Mouncey Atkinson; Dublin; Ireland; 1874, lists the following variants of this word as: Ogan, Ogma, Ogum, Oghuim, Ogaim, Oghaim. Another variant spelling used in the 19th century is Ogham.

As we investigate Ogum Consaine and its later Tifinag Alphabet, we find ourselves looking at the ending of the prehistoric period or the intermediate period between the last days of our prehistory and the first days of our history.

This period of the first creations of a system for maintaining specific records, quite easily could have been a period of immense emotional upheaval, much in the same way that many tribal natives in the last two centuries have been alarmed, confused, and metaphysically frightened by having their picture taken with a camera and then seeing the results. This period, which probably was brief by prehistorical standards, might have lasted 5,000 years. Who knows? It is doubtful whether we will ever find any direct evidence of a time-line. But it was a conceptual breakthrough less publicized than the invention of the wheel (which came later) but perhaps even more important.

Such stories that we usually know as The Expulsion From the Garden of Eden and The Tower of Babel may well be part of an oral tradition of cultural trauma that finds its roots in the development and use of Ogum Consaine and the latter Tifinag Alphabet.

It is probably during this period that the concept of the Apocalypse was first born: the concept of a destruction of an entire way of life and its simultaneous reconstruction by remarkable means, producing a vastly superior society.

Ogum has been discovered, dated, and placed as follows:

ca 2200 BC: Windmill Hill, Wiltshire, England: An inscription.

ca. 2000-1900 BC: Northern Syria; Asia Minor: Various Hittite inscriptions.

ca. 1700 BC: Peterborough Petroglyph Site, Perterborough, Ontario, Canada: An inscription.

ca. 1160-1146 BC: Valley of the Kings, opposite Luxor on the West Bank of the Nile River, Egypt: a Ramses VI tomb inscription.

ca. 1145-322 BC: Egypt: Various inscriptions.

ca. 384-322 BC: Athens, Greece: Ogum writing used by the Greek Philosopher, Plato.

1977 AD: Libya, North Africa: Limited use of Ogum by native peoples, observed by Professor Barry Fell of Harvard University, while lecturing in Libya.

ca. 1977 AD: Sweden, various areas: Limited use of Ogum by local people observed by Professor Barry Fell of Harvard University.

Ogum is a series of short line arranged as branches from a visual line (or trunk) or an imagined line (or trunk). Here we have what is probably the oldest graphic language which was used both for basic arithmatical and verbal transmission. At the same time, Ogum bears a remarkable resemblance to both binary numbers and to circuitry. Today the only actively used language which has both numberic and verbal levels symbolized within its graphics is classical Hebrew.

With the birth of Ogum, humanity could begin the process of storing its own memories of events and ideas as well as standardizing and remembering its arithmetic measurements. Now humanity was quite aware of past present and future time and was thinking about it. The past, no longer had to be yesterday or a long time ago. It could be 12 sunrises ago or 12 full moons ago or 12 winters ago. The present was no longer forever.

With some accuracy of detail, the present could be seen and measured, slipping into the past and being the past. A different present time kept presenting itself to humanity's expanded consciousness of time. There were present times which had not arrived yet - these were the future. It could not have taken very long, perhaps more than a minute and less than 1,000 years, but once this was truly understood, then the concept of present time had to have shrunk immediately to a split second or perhaps nothing. Anticipating the future was power, remembering the past was organization.

Those who did not anticipate the future or who could not literally measure the length or strength of some aspect of daily reality, or did not remeber the landmarks of their past would probably suffer and perhaps, not even survive. Those who could do all these things had a much better chance of survival. Those who could do these (then) sophisticated acts of time differentiation, would have been susceptible to awe, because they would have some direct insight into how much more powerful they were and how much better protected they were.

One could guess that at first, it felt as though the new knowledge amazingly, just appeared. Then this knowledge would be jealously and perhaps, paranoidally covetted and hidden. But then, where did this knowledge come from? A Superior Force! A superior force which is both inside and outside of the individual mind. This must be the same force which is responsible for everything! This superior force was studied, loved, worshipped, placated, "borrowed", "stolen", ignored, or hated. Other people had their own personal and differentiated (by time, place, and tribe) experiences of these (then) sophisticated acts of time differentiation. They, too, would have been susceptible to awe, because, they, also, would have had some direct insight into how much more powerful they were and how much better protected they were. But their Superior Force had to be a different Superior Force and the real one as opposed to the false one. Atthis point, their now existed the ground of being for polytheism (incorrect but peaceful tribal interrelations) and montheism (correct but possibly waring tribal relations). Quite often, each superior force had its own name. The human race was now consciously aware of the concept of God. Sometimes this God-concept was feared. Things could and did go wrong and often worse than in the past. Sometimes this God-concept was loved. Things could and did go right and often better than in the remembered past. The tension between these two polarities of worse and better became more and more a sophisticated knowledge. Any bipolar system which is continually observed will produce a wealth of sophisticated and detailed thought, some of which will turn out to be knowledge, and some of that, may even exist as wisdom. The God-concept was the tool of conscious progress, power, safety, and development.

But now a new question arose: What was the limit of knowledge and power of the Superior Force? It seems that no matter how much we learn, there is more to learn and no matter how much we learn, we learn that we actually know less than we thought we did. In succession, at some point, the human mind realized the possibility of Infinite Knowledge equaling Infinite Power equaling Infinite Creation Into the Future. This experience was entirely real.

Did anyone doubt their own experiences during the period of the Old and New Stone Age? There was not enough knowledge and communications to create the kind of doubt which one experiences as doubting one's own immediate external and internal experiences. Certainly, at times, there was confusion, fear, anger, poor judgement, traumatic shock, and psychophysical response to injuries or poisoning as well as disbelief as to what some other said or did or said they did, but doubt of experience, may be a relatively new phenomena within the human mind as a common and shared reality.

Mankind had personally experienced infinity, wonder, and fear - all together. Mankind had reached the point where it could conceptiualize God and could conceptualize a changing and developing world/universe. Mankind had watched its own knowledge be stored and accumulate. Was there an ultimate place to which the path of one's own knowledge led? And if reaching that place, would not that imply a much greater closeness to the Superior Force or God and would not this mean a series of changes beyond any current knowledge? At this point in time, did this place of closeness to the Superior Force become the first glimmerings of what would come to be collectively called the “The Will/Word/Voice of God”,“Heaven”, “The Promised Land“, “Source of Morality“ “Morality (as opposed to Ethics), “The Promised Land“, “The Chosen People“, “Those Whose Sins are Washed Away“, and/or “Holiness“? And did this series of Changes beyond any current knowledge become the first mental confliction of “Knowing that One Possesses ’Not-Knowing’ as well as ’Knowing’ “, that “Much Process is Invisible to the Eye, the Mind, the Corporal Body, and the Memory”; that in reality all Origins and Endings are not Perceived, or Known, or Understood, and even their Existence Itself is in Doubt .

And finally, that this Confliction created its own secondary elaborations, sublimations, inner deceptions, and fears and became part of a psychology which ruled the influential cultures of the Fertile Crescent and Middle East and due to the Primal Cultural Secondary Elaboration which we call “Fear and Paranoia” , a Collective Mental Illness” created itself and it is what we, today, call Apocalypse.

8. LAO TSU, THE TAO, AND EXPRESSING THE INFINITE LIFE FORCES OF THE VAGINA

The Dao is infinite and cannot be fully expressed in word or symbol. Time is often thought of as an analog condition of the Past as an entity moving further and further away from us and considered "finished", "a remembrance of things which had existed but are now gone, and the Future as an entity moving further and further away from us and into an analog condition called "not yet begun", "not considered at all, and and an unknown time so far away from us that it is either "not yet begun" and/or (in an infinited system) "never to be begun".

This viewpoint can be very depressing. Also, this viewpoint separates us from much of our own internal functions (esoteric, mental, and physical) both as "individuals" and as "group". This simple belief structure has influenced the human race in an unproductive manner for perhaps approximately 150,000 years or more. If there is an such things as Original Sin, Original Error, or Primal Error, then, it is this belief. It is a belief unproven and unuseful. It is a belief which few wish to challenge.

The predominant Chinese cultural view whether Confucian, Daoist, or Maoist is that Change Itself is made up of 2 Energy Principles which both attract and oppose one another (Yin and Yang) and a 3rd Condition (also seen as Conditional Force, and sometimes seen as Conditional Force with a Something which can be named Indeterminacy. If you take all of these thoughts and include all you experience, know, and see of your immediate and most extended environment - then this is a Small Part of what is called The Dao. This is the entire structure of the Yi King.

Interactions of these element work in a fluidity which contains: Predominance, Endless :hangingness; Disassociation in Immediate Closeness; Disassociation in Immediate Farness; Association in Immediate Closeness; and Association in Immediate Farness. These Aspects are included in the I Qing of King Wu and the later explainations of Confucius.

On a more mystical level these Six Aspects can be further interpretated thusly:
A fluidity which contains: Predominance, (in its near, intermediate distance, and far forms) Endless :Changingness; (as seen in its still, slow, intermediate speed, and fast forms) Disassociation in Immediate Closeness; (in its varied forms of Finished, Nearly Finished, Unfinished, Not Begun, Begun, Perceived Fully, Partially Perceived, Unperceived) Disassociation in Immediate Farness. (in its varied forms of Finished, Nearly Finished, Unfinished, Not Begun, Begun, Perceived Fully, Partially Perceived, Unperceived), Association in Immediate Closeness (in its varied forms of Finished, Nearly Finished, Unfinished, Not Begun, Begun, Perceived Fully, Partially Perceived, and Unperceived); and Association in Immediate Farnessits (in its varied forms of Finished, Nearly Finished, Unfinished, Not Begun, Begun, Perceived Fully, Partially Perceived, Unperceived).

Energies which are considered 'cosmic". "spiritual", "mystical", and "intuitive" are incarna5ted and reincarnated into the same, single lifetime of a human being as well as into other lifetimes and existences of a human being. The Western religions often call this situation: "The Voice of God".

The response of the "cosmic energies" to the human and the response of the human to these "cosmic energies" create what the Eastern Religions often call: "Karma".

All Worlds are Interweavings of an Incredible Complexity of Energy. The Complexity of Energy transcends its own antagonism [dialectic: Nagarjuna through Hegel] of Non-Completion and merges with Completion Itself, to form Relativity (Non-Competion + Completion), this inturn creates Quanta. Quanta appears and disappears. Quanta disappears and appears. It does this with the same frequency as does the continual recreation of Relativity. Both Quanta and Relativity are actual translations of the interweaving force and forces which support one another: Yin (Quanta;female force, and male orgasm) and Yang (Relativity, male force, and female orgasm).
